Barbs & Bouquets for Dec 15, 2007
Bouquet - Phyllis Kelley, a DeKalb County historian, and the staff at the Joiner History Room at the Sycamore Public Library completed a pictorial history about Sycamore and had it published by Arcadia Publishing. Chapters of the book, which is called “Syca-more,” focus on the county courthouse, State and Main streets, Sunday worship and leading ladies and gentlemen of the city. The book contains images from the bygone days of our county seat, as well as pictures of more recent events, like the Sycamore Pumpkin Festival. It's nice to see one of our local burgs celebrated and shared, and even nicer that the Joiner History Room staff took time to compile such a worthwhile book.
