Bouquet - Five DeKalb County education employees were honored this month when the ninth annual DeKalb County Excellence in Education Awards were presented. One winner was selected in each of five categories: grades K-5 teacher, grades 6-8 teacher, grades 9-12 teacher, administrator and member of the support staff. Recipients were Lois Sondgeroth of the Sandwich School District, Jan Kuntz of the Indian Creek School District, Kathleen Watkins of the DeKalb School District and Rebecca Mattison and Connie Wood, both of the Hiawatha School District. The women were deservingly recognized for their commitment to education.
