Bouquet - Sycamore residents showed how much they care about their community when dozens turned out for a public hearing Monday on the Engh farmstead. Aldermen said at the meeting that never before had they received so many phone calls and e-mails from their constituents on a single issue. Both proposals for using the property were worthy causes, and it's commendable not only that so many people on both sides made themselves heard, but also that the tone of the hearing remained respectful toward both sides. It was a difficult choice for the city council, made easier because representatives knew how members of the community felt.
