Community reaches out to embrace university in mourning
DeKALB - As four helicopters hovered late Thursday afternoon and ambulances came and went near the site of a shooting at Northern Illinois University's Cole Hall, students streamed by in groups and by themselves, with seemingly every single one of them using a cell phone.

The Newman Catholic Student Center at 512 Normal Road in DeKalb will hold a Mass at 12:05 p.m. Friday and an ecumenical prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
