Private security firm hired for NIU dorms
DeKALB - The Board of Trustees for Northern Illinois University on Wednesday approved spending nearly $1 million to hire a private security firm to help staff the school's residence halls during certain times of the day for the 2008-09 academic year.

DeKALB - The chairwoman of the Northern Illinois University Board of Trustees said Wednesday that it is “unfortunate” the university may be sued by a corporation that wants to build a cancer treatment center similar to the one NIU is already building.
